The Piedra Fundamental (Foundational Stone) of La Plata is a historic monument located in the heart of the city. It marks the spot where the foundation stone of the city was laid on November 19, 1882. The monument is open to the public and admission is free.

Visitors can see the original bronze plaque that was placed on the stone, as well as a replica of the time capsule that was buried beneath it. The monument also features a statue of Dardo Rocha, the founder of La Plata.

The Piedra Fundamental is open daily from 9am to 5pm.

There are also several museums in the area, including the Museum of Natural Sciences and the Museum of Fine Arts. The Museum of Natural Sciences is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm, and the Museum of Fine Arts is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 8pm.
